The department of electical engineering has been palying a vital role in producing scientists and technocrats to serve the nation. The department od electical engineering was estabilished in the year 1983. The department runs the undergraduate programme and the post-graduate programme to cater the challenging needs of technical excellence in all areas of electrical engineering such as Automation & distribution, Power System and Energy Management.

The Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the largest department in Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon and has a distingushed faculty, all holding post Graduates degree from renowned institute in india.

The Department takes part in various activities. The Department undertaken consultancy and other forms of collaboration with various organization. A number of sponsord research project have been completed.

The Department organizes short term training programme, workshop and seminars in various specialized field with participants from all over the country of other engineering colleges and professional engineers.

The Department has over 10 well equipped laboratories and operates its own library, offering facilities to work in all areas of Electrical Engineering. The Department is well equipped with a number od PCs and Workstation hosting several softwares pakages and linked through a local area network. Internet services are available to student and faculty. A Curriculum Development Cell functioning within the department is active in developing programmes and teaching-aids for Electrical Engineering Education.

In addition to the strong undergraduate programs, the department has been playing a role in producing world class postgraduates and research scholars. The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide adequate opportunities for students and researchers to learn and innovate. All the laboratories are approved by Sant Gadage baba Amaravati University, Amaravati for reasearch work. The faculty of the department has been constantly carrying out reasearch on many cutting edge technologies. The faculty published the reasearch in IEEE and other reputed International and National journals.
