APPEAL

My dear Students,

I would like to offer my best wishes to you all.

We are trying to get autonomous status in the near future. The proposals have been sent to all the concerned authorities. With this, it will be possible for us to make faster changes in the curriculum to make it more rational, get more flexibility in planning, administration, imbibing spirituals values, tie-ups with foreign universities for education programs, staff training and exchange programs, social welfare, etc. At the same time, we will have to generate large funding to support our education programs, development of laboratories and industry-institute-interaction.

At present 4373 Alumni are proving their talents in and around the globe. You are the image carriers and can bring laurel to this institute through your hard work.

The Alumni Association of SSGMCE will be playing a crucial role in exploring various ways and means to achieve the dream of this institute becoming the center of excellence. To be in nutshell, I feel, it is a great asset to the institution to get support for its curricular activities and developing modern amenities by way of sharing your expertise, offering research projects, training, and funding.

I also look forward for the celebration on the eve of 25th year (23-08-2008) of the existence of the SSGMCE, Shegaon. We are planning to host 'Alumni Meet', Shegaon Chapter in this current year as a part of preparation of Silver Jubilee Mega Alumni Meet.

It is necessary to gear up yet another milestone that will be created in the history of SSGMCE, Shegaon. Let us celebrate it in a unique way with grandeur. Your precious help and suggestions will be of great help to us.

"Vidhaya Amrutam Ashnute" The maxim in the college emblem was suggested by H.H. Swami Atmanandaji Maharaj of R.K.Mission, Raipur. It appears in Isyawasyopanishad and it states that 'through knowledge (vidya) immortality is realized.'

About the College
It was that glazing afternoon of "Magh Saptami" of year 23 February, 1878 when a divine person suddenly appeared on the land of Shegaon to make it a holy place. That great Saint Shri Gajanan Maharaj lived here till attaining his Mahasamadhi on "Rishi Panchami" in the year 8 September, 1910 and demonstrated his "Lilas" (Live Actions) to enlighten and bless millions of people. It is He who gave the ideal of "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah" to a philanthropic trust set up by Him during His own lifetime and named as "Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan". Since then this Sansthan has been conducting innumerable activities of social, religious, educational, spiritual, and other in the name of that Divine source to execute His ideals. The inception of Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon is a step to execute the same ideal by Gajanan Shikshan Sanstha, Shegaon, for "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah" through technical education with a motto of "Vidya Amritum Ashnute".

The institute was established on 23rd August 1983 as a Flagship institution with the Blessings of "Our Devine Source Of Inspiration - Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj, Shegaon". The institution is ISO 9001:2000 certified affiliated to Amravati University, Amravati and recognized from AICTE, New Delhi; NBA, New Delhi; NAAC Banglore; Selected as Network Institute in this region (headed by VNIT Nagpur) with 11 well known institutes in India. The institution is housed in 86 acres of land and over thirty multi-storied buildings fitted with the marbles and other precious stones and tiles, landscape gardens, greenery, and state-of-the-art architect designs. In this short span of two decades our institution has made a progress consistently, quietly and in conformity with any standards set for technical education of our types in all its spheres-physical, infrastructure, financial, functional, moral and spiritual. The college is running several under-graduate and post-graduate courses.

The Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon has set up a trade tradition of producing eminent engineers who are competent and committed to the high professional standards in the field of engineering and technology. Alumni of this college are heading several leading engineering industries and organizations and many of them have established their own business in India and Abroad.

The College offers multi-disciplinary under-graduate and post-graduate programs. The SSGMCE runs full time courses in BE, ME and MBA Foreign Universities are also willing to tie-up with SSGMCE, Shegaon.
